About the weekends

Scottish Music Weekend
(Accordion)
Folk music from Scotland. Mainly tunes from the Scottish Dance Band tradition, but not exclusively! - There will be strathspeys! And a bit of discussion on Scottish Ornamentations etc. for the accordion.

World Tour in Ettrickbridge - Sunday afternoon concert Weekend
(Mixed Instruments)
Tunes from around the world to entertain the locals in Ettrickbridge. If you are too late to book onto the November Ceilidh Weekend perhaps this one's for you. We will arrange and rehearse on the Saturday and Sunday morning to deliver a short concert on Sunday afternoon. Like the November Ceilidh, all proceeds will go to charity.

Sea Shanties and Nautical Tunes Weekend
(Mixed Instruments)
Hoping to attract a few singers to this weekend so that the rest of us can practice our arrangement and accompaniment skills. If you have any favourites, let me know!
Accordion Left Hand and Accompaniment Weekend
(Accordion)
A more technical accordion weekend for those who would like to explore different bass and chord patterns, perhaps thinking of the left hand as a rhythm section. We'll also explore ideas on the right hand to tie in with these patterns to accompany different types of tunes. Might explore the bellows shake too to add rhythm to our accompaniments.

Funky Music Weekend
(Mixed Instruments)
Bands like 'The Average White Band' and 'Tower of Power' have shaped the way I play now, so I thought it would be fun to play around with some of the more funky grooves found in Funk, Jazz and even Pop Music. We may even funk up some jigs and reels. We will definitely "Pick up the pieces"!

Oktoberfest Weekend
(Accordion)
This was a great success two years ago, we had a most excellent evening in the pub on the Saturday night. Music and songs from the Bier Keller's of Germany and some continental music from round about!
The Famous Ceilidh/Concert Weekend
(Mixed Instruments)
Every year this weekend just gets better and better. This year we had a band of 27 playing for a ceilidh on the Saturday night. All money raised always goes to charity. I will send out the music in advance to rehearse on the Saturday ahead of the ceilidh in the evening. A great chance to play in a band if you've not had that experience before, without the pressure to hit every note! In fact, if you want to sit some out or have a wee dance yourself, this is allowed!!!! Early booking is recommended, because it is very popular.
Christmas Weekend
(Accordion)
Usual festive nonsense with seasonal jumpers, lights and decorations! Plus a few Christmas tunes of course. The playlist just gets longer and longer. I have a file now with loads and loads of Christmas carols and tunes that we dip into during the weekend.
